In order to raise money for the American Red Cross in their continued efforts around the world, a Climb-A-Thon will take place on Saturday, October 21st. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans last year, the Red Cross played a vital role in assisting the people there that desperately needed aid. Climbers from all over Ohio came together and raised over $5,300.00 in one day, and climbed over 32,000 feet! As the Red Cross continues to do what it can, let us work together to donate what we can. Please be a part of this event to help those men and women who help others every day. Together we can help the American Red Cross to provide relief to victims of disasters in urgent need; and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
From 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on the day of the event, climbers will do their part. Running on a "cash per climb" basis similar to the CROP walk, sponsored climbers will "earn" a predetermined amount of money per number of total vertical feet climbed. For example: a donation of $0.02 per foot X 1200' = $24.00. Tax-deductible donations from local businesses in addition to assistance from corporate sponsors and a gear raffle will comprise the total amount of the donation for the American Red Cross. The climbers who raise the most money and climb the most feet will win prizes. Drinks and snacks will be provided at the event.
The more climbers who participate, the better this event will be. Feel free to contact us if you would like to receive a packet, or stop by the Krag to pick one up. You can also download the sponsorship form and poster on this site. If you would like to sponsor a climber or group of climbers, we would be most grateful. Donations can be made in person, through the mail, or over the phone. 937-224-5724. MasterCard and Visa are accepted. As well, your presence and support on the day of the event would be appreciated. We know these are tight times, but that is all the more reason to be there for our friends and neighbors in need, and to support the American Red Cross that is always there in our stead when disaster strikes.
